Day Shoot (Part II) - The Lake & The Landscape

As promised, Part II of our recent Day Shoot is here! We return with Michael and Mariah on location lakeside, for another phenomenal shoot! Although this shoot was briefly interrupted by a rain shower that sent us running for cover in our cars, once it passed, we were back to work! We absolutely LOVE shooting on-location! It provides a new canvas for creative expression with each and every angle change. Check out these images from our shoot out at the lake!

So, whenever YOU are ready for a shot of creativity and a change from the normal photo session, email us at PhotographybySeanPonder@ymail.com and tell us your vision! If you are not sure of just what you want to do, schedule your FREE consultation and we can sit down and step through how to help you shine!

Day Shoot (Part I) - The Laundromat

So recently we had the pleasure of doing a couple of concept shoots with models, Michael and Mariah. Talk about a fun shoot! Michael and Mariah were definitely in their element during our day shoot, and I doubt this will be the last you see of either of them. They have some really big goals in mind and we are excited to play just a small role in helping them realize them!

So, the first location was a little unorthodox to say the least, but we figured, we don't live inside a box, so why think inside one? We chose a laundromat for Part I of the Day Shoot. I remember wondering what Michael and Mariah would think of shooting in a laundromat... A laundromat? Really? The idea for this concept was born out of our sincere desire to be different. Every photographer becomes known for their unique style or niche and OUR style happens to be concepts. We both liked the idea enough to try it. It was something new. Here are a few images from Part I of that Day Shoot. What do you think?

Needless to say, Mariah TOTALLY loves the camera and it was evident throughout this shoot! We look forward to watching them pursue their dreams, knowing those dreams are truly possible! Stay tuned for Part II of the Day Shoot...

The "Mr. ADONIS 2014" Photo Shoot

Last summer, I had the vision to do a Mr. ADONIS photo shoot. Since my husband and I embrace that which is creatively different with regard to our photography style, we both agreed to give it a go. So I took the lead on this project and we eventually shot our very first Mr. ADONIS session. When we released the blog post, it was met with some totally unexpected approval and the post quickly became our most popular blog post at that time; having received several hundred hits within a short period. Well, this led us to decide to make this shoot a yearly event, and we began putting some guidelines in place in order to make the selection process as easy as possible. Now, here we are in 2014, and it is official... the annual Mr. ADONIS shoot is in full-effect!

Please allow me to introduce you to our NEW Mr. ADONIS 2014... Mr. Reginald Shannon! The man who shares the same first and last name as my own brother (the irony), hails from Nashville, TN. A former athletic standout from LaVergne High School, Reginald holds the record for having been the FIRST in LaVergne's history to make it to the state tournament in track. In addition, he was also named All County in football. Based on this, it's safe to say Reginald has been into physical fitness pretty much his entire life, starting with his days in pee-wee football. Fitness is a lifestyle that he embraces wholeheartedly, and in fact, the husband and father has made it his personal mission to encourage everyone around him to get fit and stay healthy! Reginald's formula for fitness is simple: Health = Wealth. He states, "God gives us ONE temple to take care of for Him to dwell in, so I believe in giving Him the BEST!"

The day of the photo shoot, it was a beautiful sunny day, and it was perfect for capturing images by the swimming pool. Here are a few samples from that recent shoot with Mr. ADONIS 2014...

In addition to being a fitness champion, Reginald is also an owner/operator truck driver. As a matter of fact, he purchased his first truck about four years ago, following a recession lay-off. It was during this time that, instead of feeling defeated, he decided to step out on faith and start his own business. He considers it the best decision he could have made, and I must agree, there is nothing like owning your own. When I found out he was a truck driver, I thought it only fitting that he be photographed with his beloved rig, so we included it in the shoot as well!

In the next 5-10 years, Reginald hopes to continue to grow in his calling to help others mind, body and spirit, expand his businesses, and help others to start their own, as well. Congratulations to Reginald for being named Mr. ADONIS 2014! We applaud you for staying the course and being an encouragement for others to take back their health AND their life! Keep up the great work and best wishes for much success!

Now, who will be the next Mr. ADONIS? Stay tuned...

(As a side note, we have received several inquiries about developing an equivalent to this shoot for the ladies. Plans are in the works. Please email us at PhotographybySeanPonder@ymail.com, for more information and guidelines, if you are interested in the opportunity. We would love to feature YOU!)

Father's Day 2014... A Weekend in the Life!

Ok, so this year for Father's Day, I wanted to make it a weekend event for my hubby, since I so graciously celebrate Mother's Day from Friday to Sunday each year (don't judge me). I had the entire weekend planned out, and with the exception of a couple of events that we just could not fit in, everything went according to my plans. I decided to chronicle the weekend's activities via my IPhone5C, and as a disclaimer, these images are straight from my phone, no edits or touch-ups at ALL. What you see is what you get. This post is a break away from the norm. It is nothing fancy, it's just us... a weekend in the life.

I kicked the weekend off by making spinach omelettes for the family. Once dad chose which shirt he would wear on Saturday, we made our way to Sambukka's Barber and Styling for a quick clean-up for our boys. (Check out Keith or Terry at Sambukka's. We've been going to them for 8 years now. Great people! FREE PUB)

Spinach Omelettes on Saturday and Sunday morning.

Mr. Ponder's attire selection for the weekend!

First stop, getting our boys cleaned up by Keith Jordan at Sambukka's. =0)
We headed to Olive Garden for lunch and had a full blown conversation about the NBA play-offs (which only upset me, #teamLebron), high school, responsibility, life and future endeavors. We also discussed in-depth about being leaders and examples, just before the jokes started. Don't let them fool you. These three are serious cut-ups!

Rule #1, "No phones once drinks arrive". Oh well, watch this...

Notice the strategic and gradual change in his position...

We did not intervene on this, because big brother broke the rule. #overtheshoulder ;-)

Mom and Dad getting in a selfie (NO FILTER) BEFORE the drinks arrive. =0)

Next up was a trip to Cool Springs Mall so dad could do a little shopping. We ended up separating from him and going to Game Stop. They had money and it was burning a hole in their pockets! We made a Smoothie King run as well. We LOVE that place!

Photo opp on the Macy's escalator, while Mr. Frugal checks his receipt detail.

Our little one kept suggesting socks he KNEW his dad would not wear. #pinkgreenblack

Meanwhile, our eldest looks to be having a spectacular time! =0/

Oh and there's a photo bomb straight ahead... dead center! SMH o_O

Our youngest is so animated! Check out #MrTelephoneMan. He is always on that phone!

Chopping it up with his brother during lunch on Sunday. Photo bomber to the right.

Photo opp with my dad! (I was SO not ready! :-|)

We all just happened to have similar colored shirts hanging in our closets. Imagine that! #theFam
(A smile from our eldest coming someday soon... O_o)

The Loves of my Life... My Men Folk!
(I think I see an almost smile from our eldest. He was laughing until I started my count.)

Thanks for your indulgence. Unfortunately, I missed a lot of moments during the weekend, but I'm grateful I was able to capture a few. We hope you enjoyed a glimpse into our weekend and I hope all of the fathers out there were celebrated for the measure of love and effort they give to nurturing and supporting their children. Until next time, Be Blessed!

National Small Business Week 2014

In honor of National Small Business Week 2014, we wanted to publish a Small Business edition of our blog post, to spotlight a few local small businesses who are making a difference in our communities. Small business owners enhance the sustainability of the areas in which we live, by providing more choices (for a competitive advantage), by creating solid industry competition and by helping to fuel our nation's overall economy with creativity and innovation. As small business owners ourselves, we would like to encourage a movement toward supporting more locally-owned small businesses.

The growth of the small business industry has introduced a broader range of product and service diversity, which is a great benefit to loyal and potential consumers. The phrase, "Everything ain't for everybody", is a sentiment that definitely applies when it comes to supply and demand. Not everyone is going to like a particular service or product, but when it comes to owning your own and designing your business model, you really have to follow your heart and your own individual interests, and base your offerings on what you see as a need in your community and not on the result of national statistics. Marc Anthony wrote, "If you do what you love, you'll never work a day in your life." If you don't absolutely love what you do, then be about finding out what it is you do LOVE and get started! I'm not saying that being an entrepreneur will be easy, but it is a different kind of feeling when you can build something of your own from the ground up and see it evolve over time.

Small business owners add a personal touch to their service that you won't get just anywhere. They initially connect through business, but end up building lasting relationships with their clients. It's not hard to see why so many people are in favor of the "mom and pop" establishments. There is nothing like putting a name with a face and a smile with it too! So in celebration of National Small Business Week, support the efforts and the financial strengthening of our communities... support small business owners!
