Poised With Purpose

Meet Erica Grider... mother of two active sons, a business woman, an entrepreneur, a true go-getter, and a professed woman of God. Erica has a lot going on in her busy life, and is constantly on the go, but she holds it all together with prayer, faith, consistency, and by keeping both feet on the ground.

Erica approached the TEAM recently about getting some new images done and doing a refresh on her personal brand. She is very passionate about consistency and setting the tone for all of her business dealings. Since she does a lot speaking engagements and is the host of local networking events, she plans to stay on top of a fresh and up-to-date presentation at all times. Having regular head shot sessions are a must if you are a serious professional looking to take your business to the next level. A powerful brand identity is built on the impression that you make and the reputation you create, so therefore your image and presentation mean everything.

The Night Shoot

Recently, we got another opportunity to work with model, Nicole, but this time around we decided on a night time concept shoot. We have been wanting to do a night shoot for a while now, but we couldn't decide if we wanted to move in the direction of a glamour or urban overall look. Nicole was able to give us a little bit of both looks all in one session!

The night of the shoot, the air was very crisp and windy, but despite the elements and a host of other challenges, we got it done. This first shot actually inspired the entire shoot and was the birthplace of the creative concept. I envisioned the look and called on a couple of models I knew could make this happen. Nicole accepted the call. She was a trooper throughout the cold wind and constant adjustments to the lighting. She definitely delivered!

These next two shots were taken inside of a moving elevator overlooking the city, and in my humble opinion, they came out absolutely stunning! Not easy, but definitely worth all of the effort and people traffic we had to contend with. Totally worth it!

For this shot, I was going for a more playful, flirty, urban look. Once again, Nicole step outside the box and gave me exactly what I was looking for with a fresh face, especially considering how late it was when we did the shoot.

We ended the night shoot with some simple head shots. All in all, we had a great night of shooting! Looking forward to many more creative concept shoots for 2014. Stay tuned...there is DEFINITELY more on the way!

From Trial to Triumph!

We were recently contacted about doing some professional profile photos for someone we have known for quite some time. Although we are always honored when someone entrusts us with their photographs, we were especially excited to do this particular session. The subject of this shoot, Millette, is a survivor of stomach cancer.

Gastric (stomach) cancer is the fourth most common cancer in the world, and the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths. In the United States, there are currently no methods of screening or any established programs for prevention or early detection of this type of cancer. There has been some progress made in early detection, however, it has occurred in parts of Asia.

Millette's cancer was detected after experiencing symptoms for only one hour. The diagnosis came in 2010, just as her son was graduating from high school and she was about to receive her Bachelor of Science degree. Her surgeon advised her that she had between 2-3 stage cancer, and that there was no medical data to know how to treat her specific case within her demographic. So instead of celebrating their triumphs, Millette was preparing to fight the illness that had suddenly plagued her body. Then suddenly, right in the midst of all of the medical testing and preparation, the city of Nashville experienced a devastating flood, forcing her and her son to temporarily evacuate their home.  Following a year of trials and tests that would surely break the average person, and after eight months of surgical procedures, radiation and chemo, in December 2010, she received the report that she was cancer free!

Throughout her journey, Millette says that God kept her surrounded by extremely supportive family, friends, co-workers and God-fearing medical personnel. She states, "I know that I am purposed to be here. If for no other reason, but to stand as a testament to God's healing power and to let the world know that we serve an awesome God who can do miraculous things!"

Millette may possibly have the opportunity to model during the upcoming National Women's Survivor Convention, hosted at the Opryland Convention Center in Nashville, TN in August 2013. Keep her in your prayers!
